AIR JORDAN 5, WHEN BASKETBALL INSPIRES THE SNEAKER

THE AIR JORDAN 5, A MODEL WITH MANY INSPIRATIONS

Inspired by American combat planes from the Second World War, the design of the legendary Air Jordan 5 from the famous Tinker Hatfield wants to be faithful to the mindset of the greatest legend of NBA : Michael Jordan . Designer Tinker Hatfield draws inspiration from shark teeth which are identifiable on the front of these famous planes. An element that is easily identified on the midsole of each edition, as one of the very first OG colors: the Air Jordan 5 Fire Red . There Air Jordan 5 , emblematic figure of the culmination of Jordan's career, symbolizes his physical and mental dominance in the game. With a functional and technical aspect, the silhouette which saw the light of day in 1990 was first available in three colors: Fire Red, Metallic Silver And New Emerald .
Although often overshadowed by the success of the very popular Air Jordan 1 or even the essential Air Jordan 4 , the Air Jordan 5 remains one of the greatest successes in the history of sneakers !

A SILHOUETTE MARKED BY LEGENDARY COLORS

If the first three OG colorways are already essential, the b-ball silhouette has indeed taken a turn by drawing inspiration from the codes of sneaker culture. As evidenced by the collaboration with the brand Virgil Abloh , who allowed the silhouette to benefit from unprecedented visibility. And the result is clear: the Air Jordan 5 Retro Off-White Black and the Air Jordan 5 Retro Off-White Sail are among the most beautiful releases of the year 2020, marking the 30th anniversary of the silhouette. With a vintage side and play on materials and colors, this collaboration is already considered a classic of the Off-White x association Jordan .
Other editions like Air Jordan 5 Retro What The stand out with unprecedented originality by mixing the most iconic colorways of the Air Jordan 5: Tokyo, Raging Bull, Pier 54 ...

THE BEGINNING OF AN ICON?

If there's one thing we know, it's that the fifth signature shoe of "His Airness" from 1990 marks the beginning of a new era on the basketball scene. During the season 1990-1991 , Michael Jordan wins first title NBA of the franchise of Chicago Bulls and signs of performances which will remain engraved in history. Marked by collaborations with Supreme or Off-White , the Air Jordan 5 is today one of the most historically rich b-ball silhouettes. A past that continues to inspire the present, particularly with the Air Jordan 5 Retro Quai 54 which marks one of the most important events in basketball culture.
